In her 35-year career in communications, Julie Hamp has strengthened top global brands while cultivating talent and key relationships across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. Her focus is on corporate reputation management, with extensive experience at the head of large global and regional teams in media relations; brand building and consumer engagement; executive communications; consumer relations; global talent development; organizational design; social media; sustainability communications; and crisis communications and issues management.
As the chief communications officer and a managing officer for Toyota Motor Corporation, Julie led Toyota’s global communications efforts, a role she took on after serving as chief communications officer for Toyota Motor North America, Inc. Prior to joining Toyota, Julie was chief communications officer and senior vice president, communications and consumer relations for PepsiCo, reporting to the CEO. She was also vice president, communications for General Motors’ European region in Zurich and a member of both the GME and GM corporate communications strategy boards.
Her prior positions within GM include general director of communications for Latin America, Africa and the Middle East; general director for sales, service and marketing communications in North America; and vice president of communications for the Saturn brand.
Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and her post-graduate studies include participation in the GM-Harvard Business School’s Executive Development Program with an emphasis on Asian studies. She is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America and a member of the Arthur W. Page Society.
