Harry Lightsey is a principal at Hawksbill Advisors, a Hawksbill Group Company. Hawksbill Advisors is a consulting firm that provides strategic counsel in public policy and external and regulatory affairs to clients worldwide.
Prior to Hawksbill Advisors, Harry was the Executive Director of Emerging Technologies Policy in the General Motors Global Public Policy organization. Harry joined General Motors in March of 2012 as Director, Federal Affairs – OnStar, Infotainment and Strategy Development. Harry also led the GM Federal Affairs team.
Harry has extensive experience in the telecom industry, with over 26 years in the Bell System and AT&T. He served as President of AT&T’s Southeast Region and Senior Vice President of Legislative and External Affairs. Harry also served as State President, South Carolina at BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc.
Harry has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. In 2001, he was named co-chair of the Economic Development Transition Task Force by South Carolina Governor Jim Hodges. He was a founding member of the board of City Year-Columbia, a youth service organization, and has participated in numerous other charitable organizations.
In 2002, Lightsey received the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian recognition, for his achievements in leading the groundbreaking effort to establish leading research and development programs in higher education. He has also served on the Princeton National Alumni Executive Board and on the Board of Trustees of the College of Charleston.
Harry received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, where he majored in East Asian Studies, and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.
